USMA Community Service Program

Historically, martial artists are community leaders, teachers, role models, etc. In that light, we are proud to announce the USMA Community Service Program and Award. The objective of this Program is to encourage community involvement and to recognize clubs and individuals that contribute positively to the community and promulgate a positive image of the martial arts to our neighbors outside the martial arts.

Heading the program as it's National Director is Robert Sterling. This program is in its initial planning stages and Mr. Sterling has asked for members to provide input and comments regarding this program. If you have comments or other input, you can reach Mr. Sterling at kuma@netside.net.

The current plans for the program are as follows:

  • Each participating club would submit a plan for a community service project and evidence the project was actually carried out.

  • Every club that participates would receive a Certificate of Appreciation.

  • The club whose project provided the greatest community benefit at the greatest commitment of time and effort would receive a Certificate of Recognition and Awards provided by sponsors,  and points toward the Character Development Program, and special coverage on the USMA website.

We are currently seeking corporate sponsors for this project to provide awards (like gift certificates, coupons, matching contributions, etc). If you or someone you know owns or belongs to a corporation that supports community involvement, please contact Mr. Sterling on this matter. Please bear in mind that the USMA is a non-profit (501c3) organization, and that contributions toward this program is tax-deductible.
