The United States Martial Arts
Association (USMA) is a non-profit organization incorporated in
1995. To avoid the destructive effects of politics, the USMA, like most
corporations, has a permanent Governing Board, which guides the policies
of the USMA.
The mission
of the USMA is to unify American Martial Arts in spirit by offering
services and guidance to all Martial Artists. These services include:
- A national and international seminar program to provide
expert instruction in the Martial Arts to all our members.
- Fair promotion systems for all Martial Arts,
based on a schedule of time
in grade for each rank which is open and known to all.
- The most outstanding annual Hall of Fame in the
industry.
- The finest Junior and
Senior National Martial Arts and Law Enforcement Defensive Tactics
Training Camp in the country.
- The most beautiful Life Membership
and promotion certificates in the industry.
- The support
of coaches and athletes who aspire to national and international
excellence
- The finest Martial Arts website in the world
- Our outstanding Martial Arts
website:
Another very important USMA service is the development of
superior instructional materials and methods for the teaching of moral
values and character development as outlined in the USMA American Martial
Arts Character Achievement Program (AMCAP), and the USMA Christian
Achievement Through Martial Arts (CATMA).
Through these programs, now in preparation, the USMA will make Martial
Arts the leading force in the character development of the American
people.
The USMA is also in the process of publishing a series of
books and videos on the Martial Arts created by O-Sensei Phil Porter and
other experts. The first two videos have been created and will be
published soon. The booklet, Producing Martial Arts Champions, has
already been published and is available from the USMA. [Click here for

With more than 10,000 members,
the USMA is the center of American Martial Arts. It is the only
organization devoted to all Martial Arts without exception. We are the
rallying point for all leaders, whatever their arts, who are devoted to
the true spirit of the Martial Arts and who wish the progress and prestige
of the Martial Arts to continue to grow.
USMA Structure. Volunteer workers
run the USMA. The USMA is not a political group.
A permanent three person Board of Governors, who supervise the structure
policies, and finances of the USMA governs the USMA.
The Board consists of: Dr. Dennis Chu,
Mr. Talaat “Tony” Shahin, and Joy T. Porter. All governors serve without pay.
USMA Founder. The Founder
of our USMA is O-Sensei Phil Porter, 10th Dan in several
Martial Arts and the most successful coach in US Judo history. He has
undergone 65 years of training and competition in the Martial Arts,
and is the author of many books, videos and DVDs.. His biography may
